In an article in the Scottish Catholic Observer of 13th November the following has been reported:
Thousands of pounds are needed to save the church in Girvan. Parishioner Dan Lavery, who is organising the repairs said that damp had gotten into the roof and unless repairs took place at once the building could be ruined.
"The work is already underway, because the damp and damage to parts of the church were so severe we couldn't afford to wait."

In 2000 at the parish's 150 anniversary, the then Bishop of Galloway Maurice Taylor said it was both the " spiritual home of the resident Catholics and the the holiday parish of countless others who have always felt welcomed in its hospitable walls."
